Surfing with a kite presents a considerable challenge to the rider, the ocean is ever-changing and moves fast, the wind is a force in constant motion and all the while you need to control the kite and the board to maximize every second of the wave. Our goal with the 2020 Fone Bandit-S Surf Kite was to create a kite that allowed the rider to focus on riding the wave and not worry about the kite.
The bar pressure on the 2020 Fone Bandit-S Kite is very light; you never really feel the kite pulling or any fatigue on the arms. With just small input from your fingertips, you can engage the incredibly responsive steering. The leading edge is thinner, allowing the kite to twist, and the wingtip shape further enhances the response. This is perfect for onshore riding conditions where you need to steer the kite around the wave as you ride. The turn is pivotal, meaning you can quickly redirect the kite for a powerful bottom turn, allowing you to follow your surfing lines with precision.
Power is nothing without control; when you push the bar out on the 2020 Fone Bandit-S, you can completely dump everything in the kite. This instantly releases any pull from the kite, allowing you to truly surf the wave from top to bottom. It’s impressive how it changes the feeling of your board; suddenly, you will find yourself totally free on the wave. Stability was another area we worked on allowing the 2020 Fone Bandit-S to drift perfectly down the line in side-off conditions. The kite is lighter this year, thanks to the new 130g Teijin Dacron with ripstop material we are using. Not only does this help with the kites ability to drift, but it also improves the turning speed. You’ll find the 2020 Fone Bandit-S Kite is always precisely where you want it to be in the window at all times.
One of the best qualities of the new 2020 Fone Bandit-S Kite is just how easy it is to fly; it’s one of the most intuitive kites on the market. IKSURFMAG Editor Rou Chater had this to say after he flew it “The kite is incredible, it’s just so easy to fly and was always where I wanted it to be, fingertip control, incredible speed, I almost forgot I was flying the kite, it was so natural”. 2020 F-One Bandit-S -Technology Highlights

XL Reactor Inflate / Deflate Valve: XL Inflate / Deflate valve for faster inflation and pack-down - unique low profile flush design to eliminate drag, and free flow design for fastest inflation and deflation - with unique cut off valve that engages when pump hose is disconnected to prevent any air pressure loss when disconnecting hose.

DELTA C-SHAPE: DELTA C-SHAPE technology design offers unmatched stability and steering response when fully de-powered, with the possibility of connecting the front lines higher on the leading edge of the kite. This shape was the result of extensive design research towards achieving maximum optimization of the aerodynamic performances of the kite and of its depower. It gives the possibility to fit more canopy area in the middle sections to create more projected area while the C Shape makes sure the kite remains responsive and fluid. DELTA C-SHAPE is a patented design used by F-ONE on all kites for the past 11 years.

EVO De-Power & Life Line System: The EVO De-power concept is a simple 4 line system with New Single Line Flag Out on the all new optional Linx Control Bar Set. This simple system offers complete safety and allows for increased de-power by finely tuning the angle of attack of the kite. When the quick release is activated the optional Linx Single Line flag out system becomes the Life Line and the kite lands safely with immediate and total power kill. EVO De-power offers complete control with direct and responsive steering in all riding conditions. Sheeting the bar in and out is very progressive even with the kite fully de-powered. Unhooked the kite remains light and very predictable, inspiring confidence so you can progress faster.

Auto Re-Launch: Once the kite is sitting with the leading edge flat on the water, its C-shape associated with the Delta Pivot allows the kite to automatically roll over onto one wing tip. The kite will then glide towards the edge of the window, ready for quick and easy water re-launch.

Force Frame: The FORCE FRAME is a solid Dacron structure consisting of the leading edge, the trailing edge and the struts. This high strength skeleton structure is then covered with lightweight Spy material in the least vulnerable areas. Kites with extended de-power ranges sustain more pressure across the canopy as they experience an increased frequency of use over a wider wind range. Consequently F-ONE has developed a completely new structure for the Bandit, offering optimized durability with no additional weight gain.

Fusion Struts: The struts are fused with the canopy all the way along the canopy profile where they are integrated into the FORCE FRAME. This increases the rigidity of the Force Frame and reduces drag by creating a clean and well balanced structure.

TECHNOFORCE Double Ripstop Fabric: All New super high density fabric with a tear stopping structure using thin and high tension yarn. Unmatched strength, durability, and light weight performance.
TEIJIN 130G DACRON RIPSTOP: Fone has built thier kites for 20 years in the most state-of-the-art cloth from Teijin’s factory in Japan, and they have developed the best technologies and quality material for our kites over the years. Teijin has worked on a few major developments with the double Ripstop on the canopy cloth and durability treatments.
The kite industry was lacking choice of cloth density. Fone could build kites with a 52 gr per square meter for the canopy and about 160 gr for the leading edge, strut and reinforcements. Having only two choices was not easy because on some parts the 52 gr was too light and the 160 gr too heavy.After developments and tests with Teijin we can now use a new Dacron 130 gr double Ripstop on our 2020 kites.
By using this new 130 gr cloth, Fone has saved weight while keeping an excellent strength. The new BANDIT-S 2020 is more reactive and of course feels lighter, which is particularly important for the bigger sizes, in the light wind or for the turning speed during kiteloops.

Flat Sewing: Stronger assembly of panels, seams are glued and sewn together to make the canopy more rip resistant.

Vertical Cut Struts: The Bandit struts are designed with a vertical cut in order to optimize the strength/diameter ratio.

Streamlined Leading Edge End Tips: The leading edge tips are profiled with a reduced diameter and tip strap to avoid any bridles tangling and drag effect.

Refined Trailing Edge: The internal outline of the trailing edge panels is no more linear but with a series of arches. In the center, dacron has been replaced by a double layer of canopy fabtis which improves tension spreading, maintains profile, and brings new gains in stability and performance.

Kite Tuning: All new progressive tuning knot adjustments on back line convention at kite - mini 'V' Back Line Adjustment for dynamic active tuning.

Canopy Reinforcement: DACRON reinforcements added to high friction zones to strengthen and reduce wear.

Kevlar Reinforcement on Leading Edge: Most all seams on the leading edge are now reinforced and protected with Kevlar abrasion resistant fabric to prevent the seams from deteriorating on aggressive ground friction.

F-One Unique Heavy Duty Pulleys: Extremely heavy duty custom pulley design, larger surface area and even force distribution to reduce line wear and increase performance. Pulley structure is extremely resistant. Bridle is integrated in the lower part of the pulley, working in its axis and not sideways.Pulleys can be removed independently from the bridle, you can change the bridle and keep the pulley or vice versa.

The 2020 Fone Linx Control Bar set is Fone's new Linx feature packed control bar system evolving from the Monolith control bar series, first introduced in 2018.
For the 2020 Fone Linx Control Bar, Fone has improved the bar set through the years and added some great features to create the best connection to your kite, hands down.

The new lines are less elastic: they stretch 30% less than typical lines out in the market, which also makes kite steering more precise. Moreover, elongation through time is reduced which allows to ride with a kite always perfectly tuned. In addition, as the lines are stiffer it makes them easier to untangle whilst setting up the kite.
The Hub is now made of aluminium and the F-ONE cleat is hollowed, which allows to have lighter parts for an even more performing bar. Finally the central neoprene float colors as well as the release handle have been harmonized with the rest of the bar to create a neat Linx Bar.

The 2020 Fone Linx Control Bar bar is available in two sizes for the 4-line configuration, 52-45 and 45-38cm; this allows you to choose the perfect size bar for your quiver. Fone's new integrated floats on the rear line not only offer a cleaner look, the integrated floats also house a revolutionary mechanism that allows quick conversion between two selectable bar lengths (like having two bars in one).
